Happy Birthday...to a VERY Hungry Caterpillar!

Garrett just LOVES books!  So we thought that for his 1st Birthday we would party Very Hungry Caterpillar style.  Yesterday morning we greeted Garrett in his crib singing Happy Birthday which he loved!  We sang it to him throughout the day.  I think he just loved hearing us sing his name!  He's such a sweetie.  He started the day of right with a birthday pancake and fruit.  The morning was spent chasing Garrett around as we got the house ready for the party!  Party planning is a lot different with a one year old around :) but it all came together!  

Garrett loves to play with other kids and just loves to people watch.  The kids played for a short bit before we ate an early dinner.  We all enjoyed BBQ, fried chicken, squash casserole (Garrett's favorite), baked beans, and lots of fruit.  The kids loved eating the caterpillar fruit skewers.  I do have to say they were pretty cute!     

After taking this cute picture of Garrett with Alley, I had the idea of taking a picture with all the kids.  I think taking the picture was actually more fun than the actual picture displays.  Kendall was the escape artist while all the others were trying to figure out where she went!  haha Well this is the best one I got, which is sooo cute!  Garrett is so lucky to have such great friends! 

The moment we had all been waiting for and I'm sure Garrett was more excited to finally eat some cake after watching all his other friends eat cake.  So here it is.  Catherine was a great cake photographer.  She captured the moment play by play!  Thanks girl!

Present time!  Garrett had lots of present helpers.  His nieces and nephew were right there waiting to show Garrett just how his toys work.  Thank goodness they were there to help!  :)

After presents Garrett got to enjoy some one on one time with little Miss Emma Grace! Tom took Melody, Heather, and Josiah outside for bubbles while Garrett and Emma Grace played.  They even made their way to the back door to sneak a peek!

Garrett enjoyed having his more mature friends come for his special day!  Thanks for coming, Gaggy, Gommy, Granddaddy, Auntie Beth, Brad, Stephanie, Andy, and Catherine!

We all had a blast and enjoyed every moment!  We love you Garrett and we can't wait to open each day of this coming year and discover all that it holds!
