OBX for the week!

We had our spring break a little later this year but we were able to take Graham on his first beach trip.  We were all excited to head to the beach to feel the sand between our toes and the sun on our face...well not so much...it was cold, wet, and dreary.  Needless to say we enjoyed about 20 minutes on the beach.  It was just too cold for Graham to be out.  Tom took Garrett out to play for a bit and then Graham and I joined in on the fun.  Garrett got to fly his first kite with his daddy and he was even able to fit in some playtime in the sand.

On Monday we made our way to the Aquarium.  Garrett was so excited to go see some sharks.  When we got to the Aquarium we were pleasantly surprised with the exhibits they had.  We got to see some river otters and the way they had things set up you could see them swim from the water to their den and then back to the water.  Garrett enjoyed running back and forth to see the otters.

His favorite exhibit was the turtle rescue.  He got to pretend he was a turtle doctor and was able to rescue and save a turtle!

Then we made our way to the shark tank to see what we were all so excited to see and who would've guessed that Garrett was more into the toys they had set out than to watch the sharks!  Oh well!  The sharks were pretty cool to see swimming around close up.

While were were away Garrett turned 3!  That morning Garrett and I went on a special walk together and then we surprised him with a few presents and headed to the pool for a morning full of fun.

After lunch time and a short nap we were able to take Garrett out to the Town Park in Duck.  He loved every minute of it.  I guess he just wanted to get out and run around.  Love him!

That evening we enjoyed a yummy dinner and Garrett even got to go on a Pirate ship!  (the restaurant has a ship connected to the restaurant) He even got a gold coin from a pirate after he ate his dinner.  We ended the evening with a special Birthday Sweet Frog treat.  Usually we all share a bowl together but this time we let Garrett get his own!  He was beyond excited!

Our favorite day in the Outer Banks was spent at the Roanoke Island Festival Park.  We went on the Elizabeth II to see how the English settlers traveled to Roanoke Island.  We even got to see how the Native Americans lived and also how the English set up their village.  Garrett enjoyed this trip as well.  Everything was hands on so he got to play and learn at the same time!

Watching for animals in the watch house...I think I heard a BEAR!

Even though the weather wasn't the best it was certainly nice to get away for awhile and relax.  We needed a time as a family to relax and just enjoy each other.  Looking forward to our next trip!
