Bonaire

Welcome to Bonaire!

This has to have been my most favorite stop of all.  It was the perfect island.  We enjoyed a relaxing day at the beach and did some snorkeling just right off the shore.  It was amazing how clear the water was and how beautiful the fish were.  After our short but relaxing beach break we enjoyed a stroll around town.  We went into some super cute shops and enjoyed looking at the homemade crafts and jewelry at the market.

Even though we were away from the cold December weather we still got to enjoy Christmas decorations!  This town was all decked out!  The streetlights were decorated along with this huge Christmas tree in the middle of the town.  We even got a glimpse of a water taxi that was decorated for the Christmas season.

Bonaire is known for flamingos.  On our way to the beach we got to see a few flamingos in a marsh land.  The days before our arrival the island had gotten lots and lots of rain so there were many "marsh" like areas around the island.  Such a sweet treat!  Since they are known for lots of flamingos; downtown there are flamingos made out of stones in the sidewalk.  Here is a picture!

...the flamingos are the tiny pink spots in the water... :)
