Grenada ~ the Spice Island

Welcome to Grenada!

When we got off the ship we were greeted by this steel drum band.  They were even playing Christmas music...island style!

Grenada is the home to the only underwater sculpture garden.  This was pretty interesting to look at.  The catamaran took us the the "garden" and we got to snorkel around from sculpture to sculpture.  This sculpture garden started after Hurricane Ivan in 2004, a man decided to protect this coral reef by making it a sculpture garden.  We got to see 5 sculptures: people holding hands, the mermaid, a scholar at a desk (not pictured), a person kneeling and praying, and the Christ of the deep (not pictured).  Unfortunately the night before they had a big rainstorm so the water was really choppy and cloudy.  Since the surf was pretty rough we were unable to go and see more sculptures.  After our snorkel trip we enjoyed a short beach break.

Enjoying our beach break!

Before returning to the ship we took a short shopping break and get some spices.  I'm looking forward to cooking and baking with my new spices!

Goodbye Grenada!
